Cleo is an amazing momma – she keeps the whelping pen and her puppies squeaky clean and has more milk than she knows what to do with. Her babies have all doubled in size and I find them moving all over the whelping box despite not having their eyes open yet.
I am doing ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) on them daily and I am sure that help too.
Malia (Wanderlust beagles) and I decided to go with a “Spring by the lake” theme and choose cute little animal names – so without further ado – meet the babies again <3
Boy 1: Thin white line on his head – now “Frog”
Boy 2: Mostly black without white markings – now “Toad”
Boy 3: Shoulder collar with a notch taken out – “Bass”
Miss Cleo, right on time, started showing signs of early labor on Monday afternoon. Digging in her blankets, being generally uncomfortable and panting/shivering on and off. We try to give our girls space, and so I have a camera on them that I can watch from the next room. I see all kinds of things like them burying themselves in blankets, or looking at the camera, or sitting panting.
At 1:15am I felt things were getting close and so I went and lay down beside her on the bed we have in the whelping room. Sure enough by 1:45 she was pushing with intention and at 1:53 we had our first baby born – a boy 9.65oz
Baby #2 was born at 2:38am – a girl who was 10.35oz
Baby #3 was born at 2:48am – another girl – this one 9.4oz
Baby #4 was born at 3:29 – another boy – he was 10.35oz
Our final baby arrived at 3:38am – a 9.3oz boy.
Cleo did so well and settled right into motherhood nursing them and cleaning them wonderfully. All of the pups are strong and healthy and mama is doing awesome. I am so happy.
We are so thrilled to have co-bred this litter with Malia from Wanderlust beagles as she steps into her new role as a “breeder” of her first litter. I am grateful for the opportunity to mentor new breeders and then watch them fly into their own <3
I had an incredible weekend with Nick this weekend.
Nick, (MBIS MBISS GCHP Kazuri’s All I Want For Christmas CGC ATT BCAT TKN) won Bov each day at the Chintimini Kennel Club in Albany OR. Thank you to judges Ms Pamela S Lambie, Mr Ronald Lukins and Mr David J Kirkland for finding Nick in the breed ring.
On Friday, Nick won BOV made the cut in the Hound Group under judge Mr David J Kirkland.
On Saturday, Nick won BOV and received a Hound Group 4 under judge Ms Pamela S Lambie
And on Sunday we won BOV and a Hound Group 1 under Mr Ronald Lukins, and an OH Group 1 under Mr David J Kirkland, and onto OHBIS under judge Mrs Ainslie L Mills!!
I am so proud of Nick who gives it all every time he steps into the ring. I am so proud of how far we have come after only 4 weekends together as a team!
Nick is handled by me, as his owner and breeder. I am so thankful of course to co-owners/co-breeders Mike and Karen for laying the most incredible foundation for me to step into with Nick.
The road to Double Plantium continues for us
Win photos to come – the rain set in Sunday so we apologize about the dark indoor photo!
Can I just say that going to shows and sharing them with friends makes it so so amazing! Community over competition is my favorite saying and I will stick by it – having friends to cheer on and cheer you on makes it all the sweeter.
Okay – where to begin? Some of these dogs we don’t have photos for (yet). I am just going to say a huge THANK YOU to judges Ms Pam Ramey Lambie, Mr Ron Lukins , Mr David Kirkland , Mrs Ainslie Mills and Mrs Betsy Horn Humer for these amazing wins.
Savannah (GCHB Kazuri’s Gonna Be Peachy) went BOSV and then 2x BOV, with a OHG2 to top it off to finish her Bronze GCH and her OG Bronze titles. She is always shown (and very loved) by Malia Throop.
Murphy (RBIS GCHB Kazuri’s Everything’s Gonna Be Alright) went BOV on Firday under Ms Pamela Lambie.
Gypsy (Joyful Noise N Kazuri Just Lace and Paper Flowers) went WB/BOW/Best Opp for her final major and pending AKC is a new Champion shown by the lovely Cheyenne Calvert
Pickles (Kazuri’s Gonna Be a Big Dill) went WB/Best Opp for her 2nd major towards her CH title shown by Jr handler Peter Tae Meziere
Basil (Joyful Noise It Takes More than Fancy Flying) went WB/Best Opp for a major towards her CH title shown by breeder/owner Dolly Metzger-Stearns
Malibu (Kazuri’s Blue Skies over Malibu) went WD/BOW on both days he showed, to gain 2 more majors towards his championship – he just needs a couple of singles to finish after only a couple of weekends in the ring
Callie (GCHB Kazuri’s Everything’s Sugar N Spice BCAT ATT) played in the Juniors and breed ring with her friend Savannah and I loved watching them work more and more as a team together
Lyric went Bpup HoundG1/Bpup BIS her 2nd time in the ring with Dolly!
We had so much fun as a community – one of our RV neighbors even made a point to come over to say how lovely it was to watch the friendship and support and hear the laughter from our spot. That made me just as proud as the wins. Thats what it’s all about.
I can’t believe they are 7 weeks old and almost ready to start going to their new homes. Sigh. It always goes so fast.
They are doing great eating their meals in individual crates, and using their potty box, and even sleeping in a crate on their own. I am so so proud of the progress they have made in a few short weeks as they prepare for their forever homes.
Here are their photos – as tradition would hold, on my favorite blue chair
Not everyone has a supportive spouse and I don’t take for granted that my hubby works his busy FT job and then assists me in all kinds of ways with my dogs and puppies.
So these photos were taken when I did puppy pictures the other day and i wanted to share them – you can see the puppies are just as in love with him as they are with me.
Thank you Steve for being the best “behind the scenes” partner I could ever have.
