Tex and Chelsea step out as a team again – with much success.

Chelsea and Tex were a great team before. Mike and Karen’s training and conditioning was the icing on the cake, and Chelsea loved showing him this weekend.

After 7 months away from her, he did not skip a beat and picked up right where he left off! On their first day back in the ring at the inaugural Hound Association of Northern California specialty Tex won BOV (15 inch) under judge Robin Riel, Owner-Handled Hound Group 2nd under judge Stephen Cabral and a cut in a packed hound group under judge Bryan Martin

On Saturday, Tex wins his second BOV today under judge Eugene Blake and topped off the day with Owner-Handled Hound Group 1st under judge Lori L Nelson

On Sunday, Tex wins Best in Specialty Show at the Stockton Beagle Club under judge Stephen Cabral among a wonderful entry 🏆 Tex also won Best of Variety this morning and onto Owner-Handled Reserve Best in Show under judge Lori L Nelson. And finally, he capped off the night by winning Bred-By Exhibitor Best in Show under judge David Salcido!!!

I mean – does it get much better than this?? <3 I am such a proud owner and breeder of this fabulous dog.

What a great weekend for Kazuri in Spokane/Coeur D’Alene

What a weekend to remember, and to experience it all with friends made it 10000% better.

An open letter to the fancy about Tex

Last October, Chelsea and I were given the opportunity to send our young special, Tex, with longtime handlers Mike and Karen Kurtzner to begin a campaign in pursuit of letting him live up to his full potential.

In January, Tex and Mike took their first steps into the ring together and were awarded Best of Variety and a group placement that very weekend! In the months that passed, Tex quickly amassed some great BOV and Group placement wins, making him the #1 fifteen inch beagle in the nation for January and February.

Much to our delight, we also had the honor of exhibiting at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club dog show, to which Tex continued to make more dreams come true – winning Best of Opposite Sex at his very first Westminster.

Campaigning a dog is an incredible privilege and responsibility. It is something we feel incredibly blessed and grateful to experience and, when you have a dog you believe in as much as we do, you have to give them the opportunity to shine.

Campaigning a dog also comes with considerable costs – time, energy, travel, personal life and financial demands. While we had hoped to make the budget stretch until December, it has become obvious that this is not achievable for us at this time.

To this end, Mike, Karen, Chelsea and I talked openly and made the mutual decision that Tex would go to Westminster and then head back to the West Coast to live with me again. While we all felt sad, we also all felt this was the best decision given the parameters we had to work in.

Tex has touched down in California after a little stop with me in Seattle, and is doing great. Mike and Karen took incredible care of him, and he is in top condition, and will be shown by Chelsea as I can.

We are so incredibly proud of all that Tex has accomplished is such a short amount of time. All that would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and years of experience that Mike and Karen have poured into our dog. We are so blessed, proud of, and incredibly grateful for them.

… Onto the next chapter! 🌟

Mishka and Murphy welcome their babies

I was scheduled to go to the Spokane/CDL show, and so I asked a good friend of mine Jamie to whelp Mishka’s litter. She does such a good job and I am grateful to her for being my back up. You can see Mish is totally comfortable with Jamie and her home.

Mishka went into labor in the morning and then had her first baby in the late morning. We got a boy – 9.9oz

Second baby took it’s time – once seen, it was obvious why. A large well marked girl – 12.24oz

Puppy three was another girl – a bi color and weighed in at 11.21oz – still a very good sized pup

Our last puppy arrived around 4pm and was a 3rd girl (yeah) 10.76oz

Mom and babies all are thriving and well. I am so so thankful for these gorgeous beagle puppies to raise and enjoy.

Audrey gets her 2nd Beagle Specialty win

So proud of our homebred Audrey (now MBISS GCH Kazuri N Van-Mar Trouble at Tiffany’s) on winning her second Best in Specialty Show today under breeder-judge Sue Bownds!

Audrey won this specialty last year, too ❤ She is one of the beautiful offspring of our Spencer x Puddin litter proudly bred by myself Sarah Sweetman and Chelsea Metteer, and lovingly owned and shown by Terri Papagni-Carter and Daniel Carter.

Congratulations, all and job well done! 🥳

The cavalier (ckcs) puppies play in the sun

Our sweet cavalier boys are 7 weeks old and we have had the nicest weather. As such, it has given them so much opportunity to play outside and interact (always supervised) with our other dogs. I love how gentle our beagles, cavaliers and golden are with the tiny babies, and how brave the little ones are trying to keep up with the older dogs.

Enjoy these photos of them at 7 weeks

Spring Sunshine and first adventure outside

The PNW is so pretty in the Spring with all the blossoms falling and the vibrant colors everywhere.

The cavalier puppies are now confident enough on their feet that I felt like they could have an adventure to explore outside (supervised of course) in the warm sun. It was about 65 degrees this morning and so they spent about 20 mins exploring

Lucy Grey – Welcome to Kazuri

I don’t often purchase other dogs to incorporate into my lines. However, when Diane from Wilderness beagles in ID contacted me about a couple of girls she had available, I will admit my interest piqued. Funnily enough, I had just been on a road trip with a couple of show friends and talking about these puppies and Malia and I decided there was only one thing but to fly to UT and attend a dog show and look at puppies.

We were not disappointed – Diane and her granddaughter Cheyenne were so lovely to work with. We had 2 girls to choose from and we went back and forth and back and forth, but settled on Lucy Grey.

Malia and I will co-own her and she will go back and forth between our homes. We are so very excited for the future <3
