I was so proud of puppy Callie, 10 months old, and new ch. We played as a special in Puyallup this week and she got 3 BOV and 2 Owner Handler Group 4s. Shown by me 🙂
I am beyond thrilled with Dutch – (now BISS GCH Van-Mar N Kazuri Brewin Up Trouble)
Today at the Columbia Willamette Beagle Club he thrilled me by going BOV and then BISS!! With me at the leash!
This was so exciting as he was piloted by breeder/owner – me (Sarah Sweetman). It was also exciting because this is the 2nd BISS winner from our Spencer x Puddin litter. Audrey got a BISS only last month. SO now we have 2 BISS and 2 group placers from this special litter
Dutch was bred by Chelsea Metteer and myself Sarah Sweetman. He is owned by us and Sarah Smith-Falkner.
Thank you to Leigh and Helen for Pud, and to Terri and Dan for the Spencer semen. Thank you to everyone ringside who helped me get dogs and hold dogs while I was in the ring.
It was such a fun day
Unfortunately the judge, Mrs Ann C Meyer was judging Whippets (64 of them) and I couldn’t hang out and wait till she was done to get a photo with her. I am so thankful to her though.
I don’t typically travel for dog shows, but wanted to support my local beagle club by being part of it. Bonnie and I stayed at a local AIrBnb and the dogs enjoyed being able to sleep in bed with me 🙂
I took Callie (my 10 month old 13inch class), Madison (my 15 inch veteran) and met up with friends Bonnie with our shared girl Audrey (15 inch class), Sarah with Dutch (15 special) and Murphy (13 inch class) and Sarah Y with Fonzie (15 inch veteran).
The first day we had loads of ribbons as there was sweeps, the beagle specialty and a hound specialty. The CWBC put on a lovely lunch too.
Thank you to judges Mrs Margie Dykstra for sweeps, Mrs Patricia Anne Keenan for CWBC on Friday, Mrs Sylvie McGee for the Hound show, Mrs Ann C Meyer for CWBC on Saturday and Ms. Sheila Paske for the Hound show Saturday.
Callie – Kazuri’s Everything’s Sugar N Spice (13) on Friday won best sweeps in variety, then WB/BOW, Best Bred By in Variety and best Owner handler in show at the CWBC specialty, then BOV/BOH over a special at the Hound show. On Saturday won WB, Best Bred By in Variety and best Owner handler in variety at the CWBC specialty, then BOV/BOH over a special at the Hound show to finish her CH.
Murphy – Kazuri’s Everything’s Gonna Be Alright (13) went best opp in sweeps in variety, then WD at the CWBC specialty, then WD again at the Hound show. On Saturday he went then WD/BOW and Best Puppy in Show at the CWBC specialty, then WD again at the Hound show.
Audrey – Rosehounds Brown Eyed Girl at Kazuri (15) best sweeps in variety, then Best in Sweeps. She then RWB at the CWBC specialty, then RWB at the Hound show. On Saturday she went RWB at the CWBC specialty, then WB at the Hound show for 2 points.
Madison – GCH Foxtail’s Dreaming of the Race (15) just played at the CWBC show and got Best Opp from the Veterans class. She did the same on Saturday for Best Opp from the veterans class.
Dutch – GCH Van-Mar N Kazuri’s Brewin Up Trouble (15) just played at the CWBC show and got Select dog. on Saturday he went BOV and BISS!!!!!!! I was so proud.
I’m so proud of this young boy. He is always breeder/owner/handled by Chelsea and managed to make it down to the top 7 hounds in one of the largest entries of over 300 hounds this past weekend! He is just beginning.
He is the dog with HUGE ring presence, exemplifies “solid and big for his inches” yet remains moderate, and is dripping in breed type!

Sylvie’s babies are growing stronger every day. They have started to make little growls and howls and play with each other and the toys in their puppy pen.
Just like the cavalier pups, I took photos of the girls in the basket and then they explored the garden for a while.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the weather is warm enough that the little babies can actually go outside. We allowed Nellie’s 2 remaining pups (now 12 weeks) to play with them and it went well. I mean, they beat up on them a little but not too bad.
Enjoy the photos of them in our puppy yard. We just replanted some Oregon Grape there so it looks a little disheveled, but will make an excellent place for them to play as they grow.
Charlotte’s pups are tubby little lumps – they are eating 3 meals a day from a bowl and using their potty box well. Mama has almost completely weaned them and they are so healthy.
Just like Phoenix’s pups, we took them outdoors for the first time since the weather allowed it. They were a little stunned at first which meant I could take their photos 🙂 But they quickly ran off to explore.
These boys are all spoken for. Enjoy their photos from this week
Sylvie had an easy pregnancy, but also had some weird things – she bled (giant blood clots) starting from day 30 all the way up till about a week before she gave birth.
On day 64 I took her to my vet with no signs of labor. Her progesterone was 2.4 (we like it to be under 2 for a c-section). With 2 pups on board, we knew there was a possibility that her body wouldnt drop enough progesterone for labor to start and so we opted to give her a c-section and get the pups out safe and sound. I am always so thankful to Dr Anders Thoreson and the team at Klahaya for their care and kindness of my dogs.
I am so thankful that I get to be back there to rub babies down and be some of the first people to greet them earthside. Sylvie’s surgery went off without a hitch, and we got 2 healthy GIRLS – the babies were born hungry and vocal and ready for their first meal
Back at home, Syl settled in well – babies nursed well and quickly started to put on weight. As you might notice in the photos below, one of our sweet girls has a natural bob tail. She was checked over by our vet and he said there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her. I am thankful for that.
I am so thankful to have these healthy girls. The one with the bob tail will be available since I wont be able to show her or use her in my breeding program. She will make a beautiful companion for someone.
