Nick wins his 2nd BISS

After a few days of taking it easy, our special boy Nick came back into the ring with great flair starting the Houston World Series of Dog Shows with a bang.

Today at the San Jacinto Beagle Club, Nick (MBIS MBISS GCHS Kazuri’s All I Want For Christmas) went Best Of Variety in the 15 inch beagles in a lovely lineup of beagles, and then went on to win Best in Specialty by beating the 13 inch Variety winner.

We are very thankful to judge Mrs Molly Martin for this great honor and for finding our happy little hound in the beautiful lineup today.

Congratulations to David and Ann Wolf on Ivy’s 13 inch BOV win today from the Veteran class and to all the other winners today.

I am proud as punch as a breeder today!!

Puddin’ and Spencer are having beagle babies

On behalf of Leigh and Helen Gibson (from Karakush Beagles in Australia), Terri Papagni-Carter and Daniel Carter (from Danter Beagles), Chelsea Metter (from VanMar Beagles) and I, I would like to formally announce the most anticipated announcement of Van-Mar and Kazuri’s latest breeding!

Sired by the one-and-only “Spencer”, sire of the 2015 WKC Best in Show Winner and many other notable champions and producers, BISS CH Ha-Penny’s Too Much Trouble and out of our stunning Australian import, CH Karakush The Proof Is Inth Pudding “Puddin”.

This breeding was of paramount importance for many reasons, but mostly because Spencer has been gone for several years and has very limited breeding opportunities left. We are forever indebted to Terri and Dan for trusting and allowing us to use the 13 year-old frozen semen with Puddin. We can never repay you!

Secondly, our unending gratitude also goes to Le and Helen for without them there would never be Puddin. She is the sweetest, happiest beagle there was and gives us the opportunity to bring in lines to strengthen our programs tenfold.

My personal thanks and love goes to Chelsea who has been such a joy to do beagle partnership with – it has been hard to believe we only met in person a few short months ago – I feel like I have known you all my life. We are so aligned with how we feel about so many things and our goals – this process with you has been nothing short of easy – so thank you friend.

Last but not least, a big shout out to ICSB Nor Cal (Shannon and Sydney Stone) for their professional progesterone timing and TCI services (they are seriously on point!) and going above and beyond for this breeding, Willow Creek Veterinary Clinic for their amazing service and ultrasound machine.

Spencer x Puddin, due July 24th, 2021 with a confirmed 8 puppies aboard, we are thrilled to bits!!! ???

Sir finishes getting all his single points at the Puyallup Cluster.

Sir (also known as “King Louie” to his family) garnered all his singles this weekend. Now just need to find him some majors to finish his CH title.

Official win photos to come so a candid from the showgrounds will have to do.

On Friday, at the Puyallup Valley Kennel Club, Kazuri’s To Sir With Love went Winners Dog/Best of Winners under judge Mr. Nathaniel Horn.

Sir went Winners Dog/Best of Winners/Best of Opp over a special on Saturday under judge Mr. Bryan Martin.

He went Winners Dog on Sunday under judge Mr. Luis F. Sosa.

He went Winners Dog again on Sunday under judge Mrs. Patti Wadick Neale.

Sir is out of our homebred champion “Emmy” (CH Kazuri’s Dreaming of an Emmy) and “Ben” (BIS/BISS CH Kahootz Chase Manhatten).

Sir is MLS/F7/NCCD/CAT clear and black tri dominant.

Thank you to the judges who found my “Covid baby” this weekend and congratulations to all the other winners. Thank you also to Tammie Wilcox for showing Sir this weekend. I always appreciate her so much. I had a crazy weekend with other commitments, so appreciated her support.

Welcome to Kazuri, Puddin’

So, I have been a huge fan of a kennel in Australia called Karakush for a long time owned by Leigh and Helen Gibson. The consistency in their breeding program, and quality of their dogs is something to aspire to. I used one of their boys “Langrigg The Cake Boss” for my last breeding to Madison and was not disappointed.

A short time ago, a good friend of mine, Chelsea from Van Mar Beagles contacted me. She had been given the opportunity to import and own Puddin’ (Aus CH Karakush The Proof Is In The Puddin’). She is a beautiful adult beagle that Chelsea could have a litter from and therefore bring some of that bloodline into her own kennel. Well, she called to ask if I would be interested in owning her with her. It was a no brainer for me – of course I said YES! I am SO thankful to Chelsea for her generosity for allowing me to co-own Puddin’ and I know she will add something wonderful to both of our programs. Puddin’ is a 1/2 sister to Charity, whom we co-own together, so it seems like a wonderful extension of that for both of us.

Puddin’ arrived via plane. A huge thank you to Gemma and the staff at Pet Carriers International for coordinating a smooth and uneventful trip! Chelsea and her daughter picked Pud up from the airport and they enjoyed a night at a hotel and some time at the beach before heading home. Pud was un-phased by her long trip proving her wonderful temperament. She walked out of her crate, tail wagging and even though she had not spent much time with little kids was happy to make Chelsea’s daughter her new BFF.

I also want to take the time to sincerely thank Leigh and Helen for giving us the opportunity of adding one of their lovely girls to my breeding program. I’ve been a big fan of the Karakush dogs for a long time. I feel like Puddin’ will compliment what I have going on and really accelerate the plans I have moving forward.

As Chelsea said, “I am reminded that is truly takes a village to create a successful breeding program. I am so grateful to all the breeders behind all my dogs and the fact they are so generous to share a piece of their success with me. They have become cherished friends and I will never forget their generosity and willingness to allow a fellow breeder produce good dogs.”. I believe those sentiments wholeheartedly. <3

To Sir With Love

Sir is a sweet and loveable boy – the son of one the most famous beagles of all time “BIS BISS Kahootz Chase Manhatten” aka Ben. I had been wanting to do a breeding to Ben for a long time and since he passed away many years ago, I had to convince the owners of the rare semen left for him, to let me use it 🙂 I feel so lucky.

Sir is our keeper boy. I have shown him a couple of times, and while he is a pretty boy, he needs to grow up a little bit. He is a typical young man – easily distracted by the world and everything around him. So, I want him to grow up a little bit and then try again in 2021.

Today I took some photos of him playing in the yard – he was exploring down by the lake and of course went a little too close and fell in – haha! He looked mortified. And then proceeded to find a toy to run around with.

PUppy play Out-takes

I love watching my puppies play – they are a constant source of joy and laughter. I wanted to share a couple of out-takes that I happened to catch this week and share the joy.

The little faded tri boy colliding with my little 6 month old cavalier Summer. No cavaliers or beagles were injured in this 🙂

My other out-take was Miss “Katherine” from my Vixen x BJ litter – she was trying to jump onto the back of a chair, but she mis-calculated. Well, you can see the results 🙂

Just like the first image, she was just fine and dandy – but it made for a good giggle for me.

Have a great day everyone!

Vixen – “feeling A Little Foxy”

Miss Vixen was born on Christmas Eve. She was born down at my co-breeders home in Sacramento CA as we were on sabbatical in New Zealand for 7 weeks, and knew we wouldn’t be in town to whelp and raise the litter. This is the reason she bears the initial Affix “Hailstorms” as well as “Kazuri”. 🙂

Her nicknames are “Vickle Pickle”, “Pickle dust”, “Pickle juice”, “Pixie” and “Dobby”. We always laugh that when she puts her ears back she looks just like Dobby the house elf. See if you can see it in the photos 🙂

She is a fun loving little beagle – I say little as she is about 12.5inches tall. She is our fence jumper, although she cracks us up by pretending every day that she can’t jump on the couch. We joke that she likes to be a baby when she is inside and a “big girl” outside.

She is our best swimmer and avid boater – she loves to be out on the lake and jumps from Paddle Boat to Paddle Board. She has even been known to dive off one and swim to another to get to the boat or board she wants. Lake life sure does look good on her.

I took photos of her today. She is 9 weeks post whelp, but she is looking pretty good. I didnt have time to groom her, so she is hairy, but you get the idea. We are about to do a home remodel and so she is going to have a little vacation back with Mike and Karen in California, so I wanted to take some pictures before she left. <3 Love my little Dobby Pickle.

The Beagle Puppies look a little Different – But equally as cute.

So, this week has been full of changes. Most of Vixen and Madison’s babies have gone to their new homes. The only girl we have left is “Katherine” from Vixen, who will go to her forever home next Tuesday.

Yesterday, I drove to Southern Oregon, to meet up with my co-breeders Mike and Karen who live in Sacramento. They have kindly been raising Mia’s litter for me, so I wouldn’t go grey-haired raising 15 puppies on my own. So, we met up so we could go over them in person. Toby, the dark tri boy went to his forever home in Medford OR and I brought the two girls and faded tri boy home with me, so they can go to their forever homes up here.

So, our puppy pack looks a little different, but so very cute. Since Madison and Mia are sisters, these guys are cousins, and actually aunts/uncle to “Katherine” since Mia is Vixen’s mom. (Did you get all that family connection? 🙂 ). It’s been fun getting to know their little personalities.

Enjoy the photos I took of them tonight as they played in the yard.

Mia’s babies turn 7 weeks

It’s been a while since I have posted about Mia’s litter – mainly because they are not being raised with me, and so I dont get to see much of them since they are in California. But today I got to see some stacked pictures of them – they are so beautiful. <3 Riker and Mia did so well. They are 7 weeks old and looking wonderful. We are making our final selections about them. You can see Mike and Karen dont give them blog names – just descriptions 🙂 HA!

Wagon Photos – The Last Picture Of The Beagle Babies Together

Some people know, and other’s dont – I am a photographer as my “real” job – I photograph newborn babies and families primarily. So, I dabble with my puppies as a little fun on the side.

I decided to do something adorable tonight – I gathered my kids and had them help me – and it worked – Oh my gosh – what a way to commemorate these beautiful babies. I am gonna miss them that’s for sure. <3
