Chelsea and Tex were a great team before. Mike and Karen’s training and conditioning was the icing on the cake, and Chelsea loved showing him this weekend.
After 7 months away from her, he did not skip a beat and picked up right where he left off! On their first day back in the ring at the inaugural Hound Association of Northern California specialty Tex won BOV (15 inch) under judge Robin Riel, Owner-Handled Hound Group 2nd under judge Stephen Cabral and a cut in a packed hound group under judge Bryan Martin
On Saturday, Tex wins his second BOV today under judge Eugene Blake and topped off the day with Owner-Handled Hound Group 1st under judge Lori L Nelson
On Sunday, Tex wins Best in Specialty Show at the Stockton Beagle Club under judge Stephen Cabral among a wonderful entry Tex also won Best of Variety this morning and onto Owner-Handled Reserve Best in Show under judge Lori L Nelson. A huge thank you to my co-breeders Mike & Karen Kurtzner, Chelsea Metteer & Dolly Stearns for your friendship, partnership and support. Thank you to the co-owners and guardian homes for your support, and letting me show your dogs – for keeping them trained and in good shape. Thank you to Sarah Smith-Falkner, Tammie Wilcox & Cheyenne Calvert (and their teams) for showing my dogs, especially out of state, when I could not be there in person. I couldn’t have finished so many without you. Thank you to all the judges who have found my dogs worthy – in the classes and group ring and BIS ring – I am so thankful for you acknowledging my breeding program as you have.
Thank you to all the incredible families who cheer us on, and love our dogs like we do – we are eternally grateful for all of you. <3 It really takes a village and I feel I am better because of all of you <3

In a lineup of beautiful beagles and then some of the top hounds in the USA, we were so honored Nick was found amongst them.
Congratulations to all the other winners today!
This photo includes Jon Woodring, Carol Herr, Mike Kurtzner and Cassie Miller. Nick wouldn’t be here without their amazing kennels and hard work in the great dogs that are behind him and for that I will be eternally grateful. Of course, there are other kennels behind him too, but these are the ones in the photo. Nick is the 3rd in line of “Truman” (BIS BISS Lanbur Quest For The Best) and his kids/grandkids to have won here at MAHA.
Nick is now MBIS BISS GCHB Kazuri’s All I Want For Christmas. <3
