Nick gets his BCAT title

We are so excited that Nick (GCHP Kazuri’s All I Want For CHristmas TKN ATT GCG) added a new title to the end of his name with a BCAT in Amana Iowa last weekend.

It was humid, and Nick arrived to the course with no prior experience as to what he was supposed to do, but quickly got what the game was. By the end of the weekend and 6 runs, he had completed his BCAT and we are hoping to continue and get him more fun titles. Good job Nick

Amana Iowa Dog Show “Beaglefest”

Every year there is a set of beagle and all breed shows held in Amana Iowa – it is dubbed “beaglefest” and I just knew I had to go. My friends Dolly and Malia joined me and of course I got to spend time with my beloved friends Mike and Karen Kurtzner.

It did not disappoint – I got to meet people that I “know” online and chat to them in person. I got to see and exhibit with beautiful dogs and showed my girl Callie and her 1/2 sister DeeJay (who currently lives with Mike and Karen).

I had so very much fun except for being totally allergic to something in the region, meaning my nose was always running and eyes puffy – but I didnt even mind as I had so much fun.

We even did Fastcat for Nick, Savannah, Callie and Gracie.

See you all next year!!! Same time, same place!! <3

Daisy & Charity’s beagle puppies are 3 weeks old

The little growls have begun – oh how i love this stage where they start to assert that they have a little personality and opinions. They are like little blobs on tiny legs and each day they get a little stronger as they navigate around their pens.

I am deeply in love with these beagle babies and can’t wait to see which one/s are staying here at Kazuri.

If you think they look similar – there is nothing wrong with your eyes – Charity’s brother is the sire of Daisy’s litter and Daisy’s brother is the sire of Charity’s litter. 🙂 They are literally about as close to siblings as you can get without actually being siblings.

Charity and Daisy’s beagle puppies are 2 weeks old and have their eyes open

Charity and Daisy are wonderful mommas and the babies continue to be fat and content. Their eyes have opened and so they are starting to get up on their feet and explore their puppy pens. The fun will start to continue this week with first foods.

Charity and Daisy’s beagle puppies are 1 week old

Daisy and Charity are wonderful mommas and are sharing the duties. Daisy has a little more milk than Charity but that makes sense since Chairty is feeding 5 and Daisy 4. Both girls love their babies and take good care of them.

1 week old and we needed to come up with a theme. So – i decided to go with “Yellowstone” which isn’t super original but has plenty of guy names to choose from.

So, without further ado

New AKC Champion Morrison

New champion in 13s – Morrison (Kazuri’s Everything Reminds Me of You)

I was so excited about this litter that I got from 25 year old semen from “BJ” – (BIS BISS Tashwould De Ja Vu) and our homebred CH Rosie (Kazuri’s Everythings Coming Up Roses).

Morrison finished from the BBE puppy class in 4 shows with 4 majors at 9 months old – this is a hard feat in 13s and we were so excited that he finished so fast.

Charity and Daisy’s beagle puppies are 2 and 3 days old

I decided since the litters are so close in age, we might as well take their photos together. I will make sure I distinguish between whose puppies are whose. Ironically Daisy was bred to Charity’s brother Beau and Charity was bred to Daisy’s brother Tex – so the puppies are basically siblings anyway 🙂 LOL. As they grow, I am sure we will see more similarities between them than differences. I am excited for both of these pairings.

Daisy and Beau welcome their beagle puppies also

What a busy 24 hours. Daisy was due on Monday 12 or Tuesday the 13th based on progesterone, but surprised us by showing no signs of labor and then popping 4 puppies out in 2 hours.

When our girls are close but not in labor yet, we feel okay about leaving them unsupervised for a couple of hours. There are some tell tale signs of labor – refusing dinner, being restless and digging, cocking their tail under, peeing frequently – Daisy didn’t show any of these signs.

Unfortunately because of this, 3 of the puppies got very chilled and did not make it. It’s hard to know if they were stillborn or chilled as they never took a breath for us. We are devastated for this loss. Her 5th puppy was born safely with us there and her two live puppies are being cared for beautifully by Daisy – she is a wonderful first time momma.

I am proud to present Daisy and Beau’s 2 precious boys – both were 9.65oz at birth.

Boy 1 has more white on his collar

Boy 2 has less white on his collar

We will let Daisy raise a couple of Chairty’s babies so the girls have a more equal load. We will do this over the coming days once Daisy’s pups have had their colostrum.

Charity and Tex welcome their beagle pups into the world

Chairty was in labor all night but nothing was really progressing. Knowing my vet was unavailable over the weekend, and it being a Friday, we opted to just take her in for a csection.

I am so so glad we did. Dr Thoreson said her uterus was not cut and repaired well the last time she had a Csection (emergency vet), and it was close to rupture in that incision area. I am so thankful he was able to get the puppies out safely and Charity was okay also. I can’t imagine the devastation of losing her if her uterus had split open. Needless to say, this will be her second and final litter.

The C section went well and Charity recovered as expected. Just like last time, she was very smitten with her babies from the start. At Dr Thoreson’s, we saw we had 5 boys and 2 girls, but didn’t weigh and measure them till we got them home. All 7 are thriving and so is mom.

The markings are all so similar and so we put collars on them to tell them apart.
