Snow Day with Beagles and Cavaliers

As much as I love being a breeder of beagles and cavaliers, first and foremost, our dogs are our family members and pets. They sleep on our couches and in our home and we don’t have any “kennel” that they stay in.
This week our home in Woodinville, Seattle experienced snow. It doesn’t happen very often and so when it does, we all get out and enjoy it. The dogs were no exception running and playing and having a blast. Even Arrow, who is a week and a half away from puppies, got out there and played with us all.
So much fun indeed 🙂

Dog heaven ~ AKC beagles and Cavaliers Woodinville Seattle WA

Life is good in the crisp cool weather here in Woodinville Seattle.   The beagles and cavaliers are enjoying walks and snoozing on the coach.  We are puppy sitting our friend’s pug Oscar for a few days – he is just one of the gang 🙂

Sirius attends his first AKC dog show

We co-own Sirius (Arrow’s son from her first litter) with Alisha from Lockestar Cavaliers.   Alisha took him to his first official dog show this past weekend to play at the Puyallup Dog show.    He made us proud and got some good ring experience.

Way to go Alisha and Sirius. 🙂

Baby it’s cold outside

Brrrrrr ~ Woodinville Seattle isn’t usually super cold, but weeks of blow freezing temperatures has meant that the lake we live on has frozen.   We have been enjoying walking on the ice (yes I promise we drilled holes to make sure it was thick and safe to do so).

Introducing Mia and Truman’s puppies

We are so proud to announce that Mia and Truman are parents to 4 healthy tri babies – two boys and two girls.  Born Christmas Eve – so the babies have Christmas nicknames.  Kris, Rue (aka Rudolf), Eve and Dancer.

Unfortunately, one of the puppies got stuck and so Mia ended up with a C-section, but she is recovering well and all the puppies are healthy and strong.

These sweet babies are being raised with co-breeders Mike and Karen Kurtzner in California.  I get to watch them grow from afar this time 🙂

Cavaliers are 10 weeks – and 2 are for sale

Well, the day had to come *sniff sniff* when we had to make decisions on who we grow up.  Right now, it looks like we will raise Sirius up and see if he has potential as our next show dog.

That means that “Teddy” and “Albus” are ready for their forever homes.   We haven’t advertised them as we wanted to watch them grow first.

Teddy is full of fun – he is bold and goofy.  We believe he will be a perfect companion for a family with children or even someone who wanted to dabble in agility as he will be up for anything.

Albus is sweet and gentle – he is a true lap dog and loves nothing more than to be with you all the time.  He will make someone a perfect companion.

If you are interested in either of these precious dogs, we would love to talk to you.

Both parents have been extensively health checked and are clear for hearts, eyes, hips, patellas and both parents were MRI scanned revealing no CM or SM.

These puppies will be sold as companions for $2000 (US) on a neuter contract.  They have been raised in our home with kids and other dogs.  They have been vet checked, de-wormed, first shots and micro-chipped.  They are ready to go to their forever home anytime.

Cavalier puppies turn 9 weeks ~ AKC Woodinville Seattle

These not so little cavaliers have stolen our hearts – they are so friendly and sweet with a healthy dose of puppy mixed in.  It is hard to believe that they are almost ready to go to their forever homes soon.

We call them little oreos this week – we have been binding their tummies to try and encourage their belly button hernias to close. While not a problem, cosmetically it would be nice to have them closed up.  🙂

Cavalier King Charles puppies turn 5 weeks ~ AKC Woodinville Seattle WA

Our cavalier king charles puppies are growing like weeds – they are now 5 weeks old so very mobile and starting to get into mischief.  They are eating solids although not in any kind of rush to wean off momma Arrow.

Teddy has the biggest personalty – he is an explorer and loves nothing more than to tussle and growl.  Sirius is a snuggler and a little bit of a mommas boy – he is our gentle giant.  Albus is our observer taking it all in before getting in on the action.  He got a cold last week which was a little scary but is doing great again – thank Heavens!

This week we will take them outdoors for some time on the grass – it will be fun to see them explore somewhere new and gather some different sensory experiences.  we will also set up the play space now that they are interacting with their environment more.

Sirus – 10.58

Cavalier King Charles Puppies are here!

Arrow had her puppies today!!  It all happened rather fast with her temperature dropping last night and then starting labor about 7:45am and the first baby arriving shortly after.

Unfortunately, the first delivery, while it went smoothly, Arrow whelped a puppy girl that presented with some development issues – we rushed her and Arrow to the vet but she could unfortunately not be saved.   The vet assured us that we didn’t do anything wrong and that the placement of her egg/placenta probably didn’t allow her the right amount of nutrients to grow properly.   We will forever be grateful to the team at Companion Vet clinic in Snohomish for the care and support they gave to us.

While upset, Brianna was a trooper and held her as she passed, and we named her “Cherry” as we will bury her under a cherry tree later today.

Arrow started to push again, and within the next hour, she gave birth to 3 healthy baby boys.

Momma and the 3 boys are doing great – Arrow has taken to her new role as momma with enthusiasm – its hard to convince her to eat or go potty – luckily she is only 12 lbs and so easy to carry outside for a quick break.

we will provide updates as they grow – we are already so smitten 🙂
